Wednesday, February 25, 2004 : Pakistan State Oil shows corporate social responsibility in a unique way:
The World Economic Forum held in Switzerland represented the biggest international gathering during January. While the international media focused on the political issues, there was a lot more going on in Davos over the five days.
Pakistan State Oil (PSO) signed a MoU with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation and ICWFD featuring a project that brought e-learning solutions from Serebra to the Forum.
Mr. Tariq Kirmani, the Managing Director of Pakistan State Oil, distributed Serebra pre-paid Learning Cards to key attending participants including business leaders from global companies such as Dell, HP, Cisco Systems, Goldman Sachs, Sony, Coca-Cola, Nike and many more.

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and Pakistan State Oil (PSO), Pakistan 's oil market leader, signed a MoU under the United Nations Global Compact Initiative in Pakistan . Through this MoU, UNIDO in partnership with PSO will improve managerial capacities in marginalized sectors of the Pakistan economy by promoting technology-based training programs in key Pakistani institutions such as hospitals, schools, local Councils, NGOs and community boards to enhance their efficiency and self-sustainability. Through a seamless e-learning technology, over 400 certification level Information Technology (IT) and Professional Development courses are being offered to learners accessible via the Internet from any location in the country using PIN-based Learning Cards. Upon successful completion of the course, end-users are awarded with a certificate of achievement with potential credit value. In further pursuit of this grand e-learning initiative in Pakistan , PSO has offered its sponsorship to distribute Learning Cards free of cost through its dealer network all over the country."
