E skills 360 degrees for 21st Century Employability Skills a Dream for the Province of Punjab( Ikisween sadi ka Punjab Ilm Maharat is ka Khwaab)

Today in a launch of E skills at a local hotel in Lahore, the Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations and Executive Director of United Nations Institute of Training and Research (UNITAR) Dr. Marcel A. Boisard, launched an advanced PC skills and basic computer literacy Program both in Urdu and English totally free of cost for one million residents of Punjab. This initiative was launched under the auspices of the Chief Minister of Punjab Ch. Pervez Elahi.

Under this program one million people of Pakistan will be trained for basic computer literacy and Microsoft Office skills in one year. “Its no secret that Microsoft Office is the most widely used productivity program in the world yet the typical user only masters a portion of the software’s functionality. Imagine the incremental boost in productivity for government employees, workforce professionals and students when they learn to use this globally recognized productivity tool to its fullest potential” said Dr. Asad Ullah Shah the CEO of International Commission on Work force Development (ICWFD). This program was launched by ICWFD who, along with these free skills has more than 400 IT and Professional Development courses in their library.

UNITAR would be providing certification to all those who complete this course and pass the proctored examination. “We are hoping for an exponential growth of this program where we hope that one student would invite 5 more and this program will benefit the residents of Punjab multifold” said Dr Marcel A. Boisard the executive director of UNITAR.

Punjab Information Technology Board and the IT Department inline with the vision of the Chief Minister’s “Parha Likha” (Literate) Punjab will make sure these courses are distributed to all including government employees and their families and that proper proctored examinations are held for those who are interested in getting a UNITAR certification.

Other prestigious institutes in each city will also be appointed as examination centers to authenticate and proctor the students for quality control of the certification exams.
