The following excerpts from the "Latest studies in education" further validate the future of education through elearning:

Terenzini and Pascarella (1994 ) conclude from their studies, “The lecture/discussion mode of instruction is not effective...The problem with the lecture method is that it assumes that all students are equally prepared, that they all learn at the same rate and in the same way, and that their differences in performance are based on differences in effort or ability rather than the method used. Individualized approaches to instruction like self paced elearning are more effective because they respond better to differences in students' level of preparation, learning styles, and rates.

Guskin 1996: "The focus in the learning-centered education is the student, who becomes an "active participant" rather than a "passive recipient" in the learning process. Hence the term "learner" is used to distinguish from the more traditional student." "Learners are expected to take on more responsibility for their own learning. These new style learners can do a lot more on an individual basis, use new technologies, and relate to faculty and librarians in new less time-intensive ways".

Non-Competitive - Peer comparisons cause a lot of the stress that many adult learners experience when forced to re-enter classrooms. Elearning methodology takes into account individual learning styles and different levels of expertise, so learners are helped on an individual basis. They need to be concerned only with their own progress and will be successful based on their own performance.

Technology based system has higher retention rates than through books or instructor led training - Educators agree that a lack of student interaction is a leading contributor to the failure of the standard classroom and textbook-oriented learning environment. This system captures the student’s attention, and keeps it with a high level of interaction. The courses are designed to gain and maintain interest through the extensive use of graphics and animation to illustrate and explain concepts, and by ensuring there is a high degree of interactivity with the student.

Online training is less intimidating than instructor-led courses . Students taking an online course enter a risk-free environment in which they can try new things and make mistakes without exposing themselves. This characteristic is particularly valuable when trying to learn soft skills. A good learning program shows the consequences of students’ actions and where/why they went wrong. After a failure, students can go back and try again. This type of learning experience eliminates the embarrassment of failure in front of a group.

Content that is “up to date” – The system has the ability to keep fast changing content current, dynamic, and refreshed unlike books.

Consistency – courses can be delivered consistently each time and for each participant unlike instructor led training which has a risk of different messages or different interpretations of the content being delivered by the different instructors.

Other benefitsof elearning

Enhances retention rate by 75 – 90% -- through self-reinforcement and interactivity.
Saves time-- learners can access the courses anywhere, anytime, by using an Internet connection and browser.
Accommodates different learning styles and fosters learning through audio, visual, testing, and by having learners “do what they are learning”.
Learning the best right from the desktop - one doesn't need to go anywhere to learn from proven leading companies or experts.
Learn at own pace : One doesn't feel constrained by an instructor-led class that is too fast or too slow for you. One can learn at comfortable pace, further increasing skill retention.
More up-to-date information is available than traditional training.
